Public Works is the largest Township department consisting of over 20 full-time staff.
The department is responsible for maintaining over 320 kilometres of roads, 13,000 metres of sidewalks, and 550 streetlights.
The department also operates three gravel pits, one of which is undergoing reforestation, an active
Landfill site, winter maintenance, and road construction.
The vast majority of road construction work is professionally handled in-house using Township staff, materials, and equipment. The department has actively replaced gravel roads with hard topped surfaces over the past few years.
The Public Works Department schedules projects for road construction to begin in the spring and continue through until late fall. This includes resurfacing, excavation, and preparation for hardtop surfaces. Residents on roads scheduled for these projects are notified of the upcoming work to be done and the duration of time before completion.
- Curbside garbage collection, contracted to a private waste collector, is coordinated by the Public Works department.
- The recycling and expanding organic waste collections are managed by the County of Peterborough.

The Search Engine helps you find locations where you can dispose of household hazardous and special waste (such as leftover paint, non-rechargeable batteries and empty propane cylinders), or electronics, (such as televisions, computers and fax machines).
