Garbage must be out for pick up by 7:00 a.m.
Each household will be allowed up to two (2) containers and each commercial establishment will be allowed up to four (4) containers.
A container is defined as a galvanized metal or plastic container with a maximum capacity of 77 liters having a handle and a fitted lid or an opaque polyethylene plastic bag 30" x 37" of 1.5 gauge thickness fastened at the top.
No container shall weigh more than 30 lbs.
Recycling is collected by the County of Peterborough and Recyclable material MUST be separated from your garbage.

Bylaw 2001-30 provides for the collection, removal, and disposal of garbage and other waste material for the Township of Smith-Ennismore-Lakefield
As stated in By-Law 2001-30, any dwelling shall consist of a total of not more than two (2) containers as defined in Section 1.3, per collection.
Any business, educational, religious, or municipal establishment shall consist of a total of not more than four (4) containers, as defined in Section 1.3, per collection.
Containers in excess of the limits established in Section 3.6 shall be collected if a Bag Tag issued by the Municipality, as defined in Section 1.1, is affixed thereto.
Bag Tag shall mean a tag or a sticker issued by the Municipality, to be affixed to any bags of garbage and non-recyclable rubbish put out for curbside collection which are in excess of the collection limits set out in Section 3.6.
Bag Tags are sold for $2.00 per tag and are available for purchase at the following locations:
- The Smith-Ennismore-Lakefield Municipal Office
- The Municipal Landfill Site
