  1. Association of Municipalities of Ontario - Census Changes

Recommendation:

That correspondence from the Association of Municipalities of Ontario regarding the Federal Government's elimination of the mandatory nature of the "long form" of the upcoming 2011 Census be received for information; and that letters be sent to the Federal Minister of Industry, the local MP and the local MPP in support of AMO's position that this decision be reconsidered and reversed.

Recommendation:

That correspondence from the Association of Municipalities of Ontario regarding the Student Vote Program and Local Government Week be received for information; and that, as part of Local Government Week celebrations, area schools be encouraged to participate in the 2010 Student Vote municipal election program.

Recommendation:

Be it resolved that the Accessibility Advisory Committee recommend to the Council of the Township of Smith-Ennismore-Lakefield that the process to increase the set fine for parking illegally in a designated disabled parking space from $25 to $300 be initiated.
