Emergency Services
In an emergency DIAL 911
Emergency Management
The Township has an emergency control group, consisting of key municipal staff, who receive regular training and conduct simulated emergencies to ensure preparedness in the event of a wide spread emergency.
This control group, consisting of key municipal staff, is in place in the event of a wide spread situation to coordinate the Township's resources and ability to respond to an emergency.
An approved written plan identifies community support systems and resources that are available to handle an emergency.
The Township works with a variety of other stakeholders including the County and City of Peterborough and Provincial Ministries to keep its plan up-to-date and relevant.

Is Your Family Prepared?
May 1 - 7, 2011 was declared Emergency Preparedness week in Smith-Ennismore-Lakefield. The Township of Smith-Ennismore-Lakefield focused its public awareness program on promoting personal preparedness. "Take the Challenge" posters were posted in municipal buildings and local schools. Emergency Preparedness Kit bookmarks were distributed in the schools and local libraries.
This year marks the 2nd year of Emergency Management Ontario's large-scale provincial campaign to increase Ontarians' awareness and understanding of emergency preparedness by encouraging everyone to take the "Emergency Preparedness Challenge".
The Emergency Preparedness Challenge was a short, age appropriate quiz taken online through Emergency Management Ontario's website that ran throughout the month of May. Individuals who successfully complete the quiz were eligible to win prizes.
